Job Description:  Asphalt Plant Verification Technician

 Responsibilities:  As an EEC Asphalt Plant Verification Technician representing our firm and government clients your basic responsibility is for you to be aware of and verify the Contractor is following all aspects of his Producer QC Plan and the project specifications, plans and documents.

Specific Duties: Verify that all equipment calibrations are being performed at the specified intervals identified in the Producer QC Plan. Verify the materials listed on the mix design are being used to produce the mix in the correct proportions and are from an FDOT approved source. Verify that mix temperature meets specification requirements and that all samples are properly labeled, taped and signed, and stored properly.  Enforcing the Automatic Lot termination and stop production requirements for any QC test results that do not meet the requirements of the master production range. Generating, distributing and securing random sample numbers for each lot of material produced at the plant. Tracking quantities, verifying lots, assembling lot packages and checking contractor’s data for accuracy and completeness. Tracking lot closures & performing the split sample verification testing in accordance with the applicable test methods and frequency. Enforcing the requirements for low Pay Factor (PF) materials and notifying appropriate personnel of non-compliance issues.  Communicate, document and report in an accurate and proactive manner.

  Work Environment: The employee may be frequently exposed to dust and loud noises. A considerable amount of time around plant operations with moving components, heavy equipment and at times large trucking operations. The ability to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings is required for safety, hard hats and safety vest are required and provided for use. You may be required to drive more than 100 per miles day, work more than 40 hours per week, work night or day shift and will have a flexible work schedule that may change on short notice frequently.

 Physical Requirements: Lifting- the employee must be able to lift, move and shake up to 40 lb. Must have flexible hand and eye coordination to perform testing. Physical abilities include climbing stairs, kneeling; crouching, sitting and a combination of all duties in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to see and smell including close range and peripheral vision.

 Qualifications: CTQP Asphalt Plant Level l and Level ll Certification. Minimum one year of previous verification experience on FDOT projects. Strong Communication skills, including the ability to interact with FDOT, CEI team members and contractor personnel in a positive productive manner. Ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to follow directions, interpret engineering specifications, read basic project plans and typical sections. Employee must have the skills necessary to observe and monitor activities, make logical conclusions, create detailed reports and document events accurately without bias.
